About the training

Couple therapy is not individual therapy with two people in the room. Working with couples requires a fundamentally different clinical lens — one that can hold two subjective realities, trauma histories, attachment needs, and relational patterns simultaneously, without losing safety, neutrality, or direction.

This training introduces therapists to the foundations of trauma-informed couples work, with a strong focus on:

  • Clinical structure

  • Therapist positioning

  • Nervous system awareness

  • Indian relational and cultural contexts

The core skill you will learn is how to “hear two stories at once” — without siding, fixing, rescuing, or colluding.

Certificate: Provided on completion

Lunch, refreshments, and participant kit included

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this training meant for?

This workshop is designed specifically for practicing mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, psychiatrists, as well as postgraduate psychology students, interns, and early-career clinicians who want a solid, structured framework for working with couples.

Yes, absolutely. One of the biggest challenges individual therapists face is when a client’s primary distress stems from their relationship, or when a partner asks to join a session. This training gives you the foundational clinical lens, boundaries, and confidence to transition into couples work or safely manage relationship dynamics in your current practice.

The training integrates core principles from evidence-based models, specifically Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and research from the Gottman Method. It bridges these modalities with a clear trauma-informed framework and a strong focus on nervous system regulation.

It is highly experiential. While we ground everything in clinical frameworks, the core focus is on practical skill-building. You will learn how to map negative interactional cycles, handle mid-session escalation, maintain neutrality without “siding” or “fixing,” and leave with structured blueprints you can use immediately.
